What is hydrocyclones feed pump?

Centrifuge & Hydrocyclone Feed Pump

Centrifuges and hydrocylones are used for the separation of particles suspended within a liquid which may be time-consuming or energy-intensive to separate out pumping directly through a filter. They are effective water treatment technologies that rely on particles being separated due to having different densities, with water being pumped in a centrifugal motion causing solids to be forced to the outside of chambers through centrifugal force.

Hydrocyclones operate by a pump delivering a designed window of the capacity of fluid within a circular chamber which contains grooves to assist in water rotation. Water and solid particles are separated out and drained away. Centrifuges contain moving mechanical parts with the entire chamber rotating via a motor, applying high rotational forces resulting in larger solid separation with the wastewater and particles separated out and drained away.

Typical applications include the separation of fine dirt, sand and suspended particles from wastewater, cleaning of drilling mud with the removal of cuttings to allow higher recycling and recovery of barite improving efficiency.

Amostech Pumps specify suitable centrifuge feed pumps and hydrocyclone feed pumps with features such as variable speed, hard-faced seals to accommodate solids, hard-wearing materials and internal clearances to accept solids at high velocity, all with the required accreditation for use on and offshore.

Amostech Pumps supplies a comprehensive range of pumps for varying industrial applications – view centrifuges and hydrocylone feed pumps here.
